Hannya tattoos are a popular traditional Japanese motif.
Hannya are said to represent a woman transformed into a demon by her anger and jealousy, and are characterized by their striking two horns and sharp fangs. Its expression is said to convey complex emotions, from intense rage to deep sadness.

While Hannya symbolizes jealousy, resentment, and anger, it is also said to ward off evil and misfortune. It is a mysteriously fascinating motif, imbued with both strength and sadness.

There are three types of Hannya Noh masks, differentiated by color. White Hannya represents the vengeful spirit of a noble, dignified woman. Black Hannya represents a fully transformed demon, while red Hannya is somewhere in between, representing a state of intense anger and passion.
